About the Lake City Ice Park
The Town of Lake City manages the ice park and the gorgeous blue ice fed by piped water that comes down via showerheads.
Located in Lake City, Colorado, with permission, on public BLM lands, the Lake City Ice Park is easily accessible and FREE to the public. Donations are appreciated and help support the operation of the park. With hardly any lines, especially on weekdays, the Lake City Ice Park offers:
100+ routes
60 to 170+ foot pitches. (Be ready to extend anchors at least 25 meters.)
Mixed grades, WI-3 and up.
The Lake City Ice Park has four ice climbing areas, Pumphouse Park, Beer Garden, Dynamite Shack, and Devil’s Kitchen (new for 24’/25), with more than 100+ routes between the parks with mixed grades WI3 and up. These four sections of the Lake City Ice Park offer climbs great for beginners or more challenging for those looking for an extra pump.
The Lake City Ice Park clings to the cliffs above Henson Creek at the south edge of town (Bluff Street to County Road 20). Pumphouse Park has approximately 15+ routes with 60 to 100+ foot pitches with mixed grades WI-3 and up. The 800 ft wide Beer Garden is located .25 miles up County Road 20 and contains up to 30 routes with 70 to 110+ foot pitches. Dynamite Shack offers 35 routes with 170+ foot pitches. Our latest expansion will more than double Pumphouse Park’s size, adding 500 feet of climbing terrain with 30+ new routes ready for you to explore.
The Lake City Ice Park is an excellent destination for Colorado ice climbing and is open from November to March, weather permitting, is family (and canine) friendly, and has fire pits, restrooms, and warming tents. As always, it is climb at your own risk.
